Thumb screws are designed to be installed and removed by hand, hence the large head to grab with your fingers. Thumb screws are either with shoulder "type s" or without shoulder "type p". They are cold forged or pressed, never stamped. Most are steel though select sizes are available in stainless and/or brass. These are closely related to wing screws.
