Blind rivets consist of two parts. The first part is called the rivet body (sometimes called the shell) while the second part is called the mandrel (also called a stem). Pop^® Rivet is a brand name as are Huck®, Avdel®, and Marson®. That doesn't tell you what type of blind rivet you need. 

Multi-grip blind rivets are designed for applications where materials of different thickness would generally require rivets in multiple sizes. Multi-grip rivets feature a wide grip range that gives them versatility for a variety of applications. While they are more costly than standard blind rivets, there is great cost savings by only having to use one rivet that covers a variety of grip ranges. So a 42-46 multi-grip rivet would take the place of 42, 43, 44, 45, and 46 rivets. It is best to use the narrowest grip range possible, so if you only need 42 and 44 you would use a 42-44 and not a 42-46.

To enable blind rivets to meet the requirements of a wide variety of applications, they are available in many materials, including: Steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Many specialty blind rivets are also available. Many rivets come standard and large-flange as well.
