With a washer face under the head and a chamfered tip, hex cap screws are the choice over hex machine bolts in applications requiring tighter tolerances such as tapped-hole machine assemblies. Standard thread length is a minimum of twice the diameter plus 1/4" of an inch. If you need them threaded all the way, that's called a TAP BOLT.
