Frame bolts are not serrated whereas Flange Bolts are serrated. Sometimes called Face Framing bolts, they are available in a limited range of sizes both metric and standard. They are available in both steel and in a few sizes stainless. A frame bolt is used much like a machine bolt. When not going into a pre-drilled hole, they are typically used with matching serrated flange nuts.
